Toshiba: 3D flash memory factory will resume production as soon as it encounters power failure accident
2019-06-21 Label: Storage Components and Manufacturing

Toshiba announces that its 3D NAND flash memory factory will be affected by power outage. Toshiba says it will resume production as soon as possible. However, there is no accurate information to assess the impact of the power outage, especially whether the accident will affect the price trend of NAND flash memory. As the price of NAND flash memory has fallen for six consecutive quarters, the Q1 quarter of this year's several NAND manufacturers'financial reports are horrible, Samsung Meiguang Toshiba and other companies also decided to cut NAND capacity by at least 5%, in order to alleviate the situation of oversupply in the market.

Toshiba is the world's second largest supplier of NAND flash memory, second only to Samsung, but because of the sharp fall in NAND flash prices, Toshiba Storage's profits have fallen sharply. According to Toshiba TMC's previous annual financial report for 2008, annual revenue was 126 trillion yen, or about $11.5 billion, an increase of 2.8% over the previous year, but operating profit was 116.3 billion yen, or about $1.06 billion, a 75% decrease over the previous year. Net profit was only 60.5 billion yen, or about $550 million, a sharp drop of 92% over the previous year.
